Martha Jane Talley Rowe, 93, of Royal, went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2022. Martha was born on August 31, 1929 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After graduating from Hot Springs High School in 1947, Martha attended Henderson College in Arkadelphia. She then worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she was a member of the Pioneers of America.
While in high school, Martha worked at Cook’s Ice Cream in Hot Springs where she met her future husband, Lynn. They were married for 67 years before he passed away in 2015.
Martha and Lynn lived in Little Rock for 29 years before moving to their retirement home that Lynn designed and they built together near Hot Springs. Their house quickly became a gathering place for all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha had a wonderful gift of hospitality and loved to entertain. Her motto was “the more the merrier.” Martha especially loved the times her house was full with all of her family.
Martha also loved gardening and spent countless hours creating and tending her many flowerbeds around their home.
Her faith was very important to her. She attended the Bible Church of Little Rock for many years followed by Hot Springs Baptist Church. Martha loved the Lord and wanted to make sure everyone she came in contact with also knew Him.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Savilla Talley, her husband, Lynn, two brothers, John Talley and sister-in-law, Sue, Frank Talley and sister-in-law, Wilma, two sisters, Ida Hopkins Allison and brothers-in-law, Otis and Leroy, Mary Lois Oates and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynda (Jerry) Maddox of Little Rock, Julie Gullickson of Hot Springs and one son, Cam Rowe (Trisha) of Farmington, AR, 6 grandchildren, Emily Maddox, Joshua (Amy) Maddox, Jason (Katie) Rowe, Shannon (Cody) Davis, Andrew (Jessica) Rowe, Noah Smith plus 26 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Debbie and Emily for their loving care they have given to Martha.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
