Maria Moore, lovingly known as "Oma" to many, went to her heavenly home on May 11, 2024, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 22, 1938, in Hohenpeißenberg, Germany, to Michael and Sophie Forester.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Sophie, as well as her siblings, Imguard, Brunhildee, Sophie, Michael, Sigfrid, and Siglidee. She is survived by her children; daughter Debby Mitchell (David), son Donny Moore (Gina), Doris Cischke, Cliff Moore, and Mike Moore, along with their families.
Her grandchildren, including Greg Cischke, Ali Cischke-Gibson, Mandy Moore-Jackson, Kevin Moore, and their families, were a source of immense pride and joy for Maria. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Maria was known for her vibrant personality and her love for horse racing. Her passion for serving others led her to work at Turf Catering at Oaklawn and the Convention Center for over 30 years, where she served countless people with a true servant's heart, also while running her own business as a seamstress specializing in draperies and window treatments. She also dedicated her last years before retirement to serving and taking care of friends and family members that were homebound.
A faithful member of the Jessieville Church of Christ for over 20 years, Maria found great fulfillment in her religious community. She was a talented cook, known for her famous apple strudel and spätzle, which she lovingly prepared for her family for their birthdays and at times during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings.
Maria's attention to detail extended to her immaculate yard and house, reflecting her pride in her home and her commitment to excellence. She was known for her straightforward nature, never mincing words, and for her insistence on taking care of others.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Memory Care Staff of Belvedere Nursing and Rehab Center, for their exceptional care and support and treating her like family. They will forever hold a special place in the Moore family's hearts.
Maria Moore's legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17th at 12:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm in the Chapel room at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, AR. The family will have a private graveside service.
