Jeremy William Whalen was born in Independence, Missouri on April 30, 1978, and passed away on October 26, 2023. Jeremy lived in Stilwell, Kansas, until the age of eleven. His family moved to Hot Springs, where he graduated from Lakeside Christian Academy in 1996. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church for many years, during which he fell in love and married the love of his life, Leslie Capps, on September 15, 2001. Jeremy worked at Office Depot for 23 years. He was a devoted fan of all things Kansas City, including the Jayhawks and the Chiefs, whom he followed faithfully.
Jeremy and Leslie were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Hot Springs. In addition to his wife, Leslie, Jeremy is survived by his parents, Mike and Marsha Whalen; brother, Thad Whalen; and his sisters, Karrie Goodman and Shannon Walker. He was an amazing uncle to seven nephews, ten nieces, two great-nephews, and a great-niece. He was also blessed with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, whom he loved dearly.
Jeremy was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jeremy was also the biggest fan of their two dogs, Tucker and Bella.
His happiest moments were spent in fellowship with those he loved, playing card games, watching sports, spending time on the golf course, and enjoying time crowded around the dining room table with family. His favorite pastimes were playing music and attending live concerts with close friends and family. He loved playing his piano and guitar. He found joy in every day and made sure every person he came in contact with felt loved.
The family would like to thank the first responders and those placed at the scene by God who took care of Jeremy as he slipped into the presence of the Lord. Donations may be made to the Missions fund at First Baptist Church, Hot Springs. To best remember Jeremy, surround yourself with friends and family, crank up your favorite song, and cheer on the Jayhawks and Chiefs!
