Hazel L. Smith, age 87, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 14th, 2023. She was born in Royal, Arkansas, on October 21st, 1935, to the late Jeff Hill and Etta Braziel.
She was preceded in death by Stanley Smith (husband), Sherlon Hill (brother), and Melia Smith (great-grandchild).
Hazel is survived by her son Lynn Smith, daughter Barbara Contreras, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-children.
Ms. Hazel was affectionately known as Mamaw. She loved cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, and above all babysitting her grandchildren. She was an accomplished bowler that was known for always being able to out run the boys. Sunday dinners at her house was a time of family gathering to celebrate her famous mashed taters and gravy with roast, followed up with her award winning coconut pie. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church and attended Valley and Lake Hamilton School.
Visitation will be held at Gross Funeral Home Chapel on June 22nd, 2023 from 5pm-7pm.
Funeral service will be held at Gross Funeral Home on June 23rd, 2023 at 10am followed by internment at Lowe Cemetery in Royal, AR.
Pallbearers are Daniel Contreras, Matthew Contreras, Gary Sterrett, Collin Smith, Brian McElroy, Dustin Kaatz, James Ison and Deshun Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers are Zane Contreras, Ronnie Robbins, Xzavion Mitchell and Matthew Contreras.
