Gladys (Owens) Henry, 93 of Hot Springs went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday July 8, 2014. She was born in El Dorado on May 13, 1921 to the late McAlister and Cora Boyd. She was also predeceased by her eleven siblings; five brothers and six sisters, Three of her sons; Jerry Lynn Harrell, Paul Parnell and Rodney Parnell. Those left cherishing her memory are her Son; Tracy Parnell (wife Sharon) of Hot Springs, Stepsons; Barry Owens, Mike Owens, and Richard Owens, Three Grandchildren; Melissa Parnell of Hot Springs, Crystal Walls and Rodney Parnell Jr. both of El Dorado, Four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. She attended El Dorado High School and at the age of 48 she went to college at Southern State to obtain a nursing degree. She worked as the Director of Nursing at NuCare Convalescent until she retired in 1996. Gladys was a true giver and lover, putting others needs and comforts above her own came naturally to her. Whether it was a natural disaster or a stubbed toe she would be the first to offer needed items, financial assistance or simply the magical love only a Mimi could give. She was an avid reader, baseball fan, Arkansas Razorback fan, and bird watcher from her recliner, but some of her best times were shopping at Dillard’s with Melissa. She was a member of First Baptist Church and belonged to the Harmony Sunday School class. The family would like to give special thanks to the many doctors and nurses that took care of her over the years and they would also like to recognize Ruby Small from Walgreens for being a dear and loyal friend to Mrs. Gladys. Visitation will be Thursday from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Gross Funeral Home. The service will be in the Chapel Friday at 1p.m. with Brother Mike Smith officiating.
