It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ella June Back, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on March 31, 2025, at the age of 80. June was born on June 6, 1944, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to the late Jessie and Lorena Horton.
Throughout her life, June moved to several states with her beloved husband Jim, but her heart always remained in Hot Springs. It was in this enchanting town that she ultimately chose to return, surrounded by the familiar landscapes and cherished memories of her upbringing.
June’s zest for life was unparalleled. A passionate shopper, she would often shop until she dropped, filling her home with treasures that showcased her extraordinary knack for decorating. June had an eye for design and could turn any space into a warm and inviting sanctuary. She had the most beautiful room in the assisted living facility.
In addition to her love for shopping, June enjoyed nurturing life in her beloved garden, where she cultivated an array of flowers and plants. Her garden was a colorful oasis that brought her much joy. Her Orchids were show worthy!
A devoted animal lover, June shared her life with both cats and dogs, delighting in their company and showering them with love. She had a special bond with each of her furry friends and considered them to be her babies.
She found joy in coloring books, where she explored her artistic expression during quiet moments. She enjoyed accessorizing with flair and had a talent for makeup always ensuring she looked her best, whether she was running errands or attending a family gathering.
June was known for her generous heart—a true friend who went above and beyond for those she cared for. She had a wit and sparkle about her that will always be remembered.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Don Cheek; son-in-law Mark Albinson; and her husband, of over 40 years, Jim Back.
June is survived by her two brothers Jessie L. Horton, Jr. and Tim Horton; two daughters Alissa Albinson and Laura Donnette Menges (Frank); her cherished grandchildren Dr. Lauren Albinson-Robertson (Mike) and Rachel Nanak (Matt); great grandchildren Riley and Harper Nanak; beloved dog Ginger; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To honor June’s wishes there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate her memory in your own ways. It was June’s wish to be cremated and be scattered with her husband Jim on Tower Mountain in their hometown of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
