Dale Douglas Cangelosi, 72, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Spring, Arkansas. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at The Chapel on the Campus (LSU location) on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Dale Cangelosi was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on July 24, 1952, the fifth of six children born to Daisy “Peggy” Gore and Theodore Francis Cangelosi. He graduated from U-High and attended Louisiana State University to play football for the Tigers. While at LSU, he was graciously given the gift of faith in Jesus Christ. Filled with zeal for his Savior, the Lord used him to lead many to know and trust in Jesus alone for their salvation. He was privileged to be married for a season to Melanie Joan Johnston, and their three sons (Caleb, Sean, and Cory) were his pride and joy. He loved LSU sports, hiking in the North Carolina mountains, waterfalls, fall leaves, flowers, children, his dogs, and playing tennis. He suffered from many physical ailments the last twenty years of his life, but his passion to know God through His word and his hope in the life to come only grew as a result.
The righteousness and death of Jesus have covered his sin ever since he heard and believed the gospel in college. Now present with his Savior, he is free from sin and suffering, and awaits a new body at the Lord’s return. We grieve in hope.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Peggy Gore Spacie and Theodore Francis Cangelosi, his brother Teddy Cangelosi, and his sister Phylis Sandra. He is survived by one sister, Cheri Cangelosi (Bradley Glasco) of San Diego, California; two brothers, Guy Cangelosi (Connie) of Sarasota, Florida, and Gary Cangelosi (Terri) of Charlotte, North Carolina; three sons, Caleb Cangelosi (Elizabeth) of Madison, Mississippi, Sean Cangelosi (Kasey) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Cory Cangelosi (Tanner) of Hot Spring, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren, Daniel, Laura, Beth Ann, Caroline, and Ezra; Carsyn, Ruston, Piper, and Miller; and Zuzu, Coco, Jacob Owen, Jill Holland, Hope, and Judah; and many nieces and nephews.
