Clara was a woman of many talents, she was a natural-born athlete, artist, photographer, teacher, and played drums in her high school marching band. In her younger years she was voted "outstanding female athlete" at Duncanville High School in Duncanville Texas, where she was raised. She was selected to play on the 1962 Texas Basketball All-Star Team and was an alternate on a National AAU Basketball Team as well. Clara graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1967, where she played basketball, majored in Art and met Janice. She pursued graduate programs in art at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and at Kansas City Art Institute.
After a life in Kansas City, Clara and Janice retired and returned to Hot Springs in 2001, where they enjoyed boating, hanging out with their friends and hiking the local trails with Janice's mother. Clara was always ready to help a friend and give of her time and spirit. She was devoted to her "fur babies", especially Tux the cat. Her dry sense of humor and enjoyment of life was infectious. She loved to have a good time, was a great dancer and enjoyed just sitting around visiting with family and friends.
Clara was predeceased by her mother Ida Arnold and her two sisters, Pearl and Adene who Clara dearly loved. She is survived by her wife Janice L. Jones, niece Angela Murray (Robert) of Eudora, Kansas, nephew Richard Kinney IV (Ashley) in Duncanville, Texas and 1 great niece and 4 great nephews.
Clara loved her niece and nephew and their children. The family had great times when we got together, lots of laughter, food and fun. Clara was especially grateful for their visits to Hot Springs when it became too difficult for her to travel.
Love and thanks to all our friends for supporting us both through all the good times as well as the hard times. Special thanks to Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs for the kind, generous and compassionate people who helped us both through this difficult time.
She has left our sight but never our hearts.
