Carol “Jean” Godwin, 83, of Hot Springs passed away on September 8, 2018. She was born in Weeks, Arkansas, on February 9, 1935. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Zachary & Ethel Sliger, and moved to Hot Springs as a teenager.
Jean was a gracious woman who always put family before herself. She knew the birthdays of every family member and their spouses by heart, and they each received a card “with a little something in it” every year. The holidays will not be the same without her famous fried chicken, her one-of-a-kind-always-devoured fruitcakes, and her beautiful smile.
Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Sue Harvey; aunt, Edith Parker and sister, Brenda Tibbs.
She is survived by her children, Judy Ammons, Debbie Tremayne (Raymond), Vincent Godwin (Mayumi), Russell Godwin (Vikki); sister, Joann Page; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at a later date.
