William E Deaver

Hope Mills - William Edwin Deaver, Sr. died peacefully November 23, 2015, in his home surrounded by family and friends, after complications from Parkinson’s disease and a fall in September 2015. He was born April 12, 1931 in Cumberland County the son of the late Edwin D. and Ruth Butler Deaver.

He is also preceded in death by sisters Katherine Mintz, Emily West and Greta Hyde.

William is survived by his wife of 64 years Evelyn Taylor Deaver; daughters Beverly D Canady (John W.), Sherie D. Jackson (Jeff) and son William Deaver, Jr.; grandsons Michael Canady, Zachary Deaver, Zayne Deaver; granddaughter Lauren Canady Fraley; great grandson Holden Fraley; sisters in law Theresa Taylor Hutaff, Hilda Taylor Gardener Cashwell (Don), Elaine Taylor Huckabee (Wayne); brother in law Maurice J Taylor (Barbara) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Many thanks to his caretakers, especially Laura.

He was a member of Arran Lake Baptist Church. Before retiring he was owner of Deaver’s Hardware and Deaver Electric. He was previously on the Board of Directors for Southern National Bank and Branch Banking & Trust. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 3 p.m., November 25, 2015 at Arran Lake Baptist Church, 1130 Bingham Dr. officiated by Jeff Isenhour and Phil Horne. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30-3 P.M. Burial will follow at Hope Mills Cemetery, Legion Road, in Hope Mills.
