Shanary Zena Delgado Vega

Shanary Zena Delgado Vega, 17, of Parkton NC, passed away Saturday, January 14th. Known to family and close friends as Nini or Shani, she was born in Lawrence, MA on April 12th, 2005, to Pabilito Xavier and Iris Lissette Delgado. After the loss of her loving parents, Nini and her bothers came to North Carolina in 2019 to join her aunt Zenia. Nini coined a new nickname for her Aunt Zenia, naming her “MaTi” short for mother and auntie. Formally becoming a new family unit on February 22, 2022 via adoption.

Nini graduated from Alger B. Wilkins High School as senior Valedictorian and went on to enroll in Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC), HOPE Program for a Associates of Fine Arts. Nini was a faithful member of Redeeming Love Family Church since 2020 after accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She further involved herself in the Impact Teen Ministry and other community services.

Nini took pride in all her projects and helping people in need whichever way she could. She loved to sketch her feelings. Write dialog to her drawings in order to bring them to life. She loved Horror films, puzzles over a 1000 pieces (because of the challenge), and music that was poetic and “real.” She also loved fashion and makeup. Looking fashionable with perfect lashes and nails was Nini staple. Sadly, she kept her Jordans shelfed, no creases were allowed because they had to stay “FRESH.” There are so many corks and habits to share that made Nini such a beautiful, unique, easy person to love, which is why it is so difficult to say goodbye. The impact Nini had on the lives she touched will last lifetimes; so, in Nini words, “Fly high my Queen”.

Nini is survived by her Mati, Zenia; her siblings, Exavien (9), Jorge (11) and Xander (6); her sisters, Serenity (17) and Normari; her niece Zaylyn and nephew Davion; her aunts, Abigail, Sara, Yachira, Ingrid and Uncle Yordano; her cousins, but best friend Danny and Sharleen; her grandparents, Jorge H. Delgado, Pedro Rodriguez, Gilberto Vega Ortiz, Maria T. Avila, Maria Morales and Felicita Delgado. As well a host of loved ones and friends. Nini is greatly missed and deeply loved.
