I remember that at one time I actually out-ranked my older brother.  We were both visiting Mom and she asked him to take the trash out and when he objected I told him  Corporal take the trash out.  He did it and my Mom oblivious to Military protocol asked me how I managed to get him to take out the Trash.  I laughed and told her I out rank him Mom.  To this day, oh, my Mom is still in good health 94, but she still cannot get over the fact that he actually did something I told him to do.  Loved my brother and miss teasing him about being older than me as he always told his friends that I was his big sister.


Words cannot express my deepest condolences on the passing of Rueben.  He was the kind of person that once you met him he left a lasting impression through his humor, love for his family, kindness to animals and enthusiasm for music and really life in general. My thoughts are with you at this time.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

Although we lived miles apart I have nothing but fond memories of my Tio Reuben. I remember the wonderful time we had visiting you, Patti, Kira, & Michael years ago in NC and you coming to Elk Grove to visit grandma Bea. My deepest condolences to all of the family! RIP Tio Reuben.

Reuben was a kind hearted and loving soul. We will always treasure our years being friends and nieghbors.  One of my favorite memories of him is when he would walk down our street with all the pugs following him.  Rest easy sweet friend!! ❤❤

Reuben and I served together first at Ft. Campbell, KY with the 2/506 BN, 101st Airborne Division and then later in Vietnam with the 25th Division Pathfinder Detachment where I was the Commander. I preceded Reuben to Vietnam and when he got there he was assigned to another unit nearby. One day when I came back to the base camp after a day of soldiering in the jungle I found Reuben sitting on my doorstep and he told me that he had to be in my unit instead of his assigned unit. I was delighted and somehow managed the reassignment. He was a great addition that we could always rely on and more than that he was just fun to have around. Several decades after I left the Army I was able to find him on one happy day and we reconnected. I will always remember him. The attached picture shows Reuben seated in the center with part of the Pathfinder Detachment in Cu Chi, Vietnam. I am standing at the right.

We argued, fought and teased each other, but we also loved each other and then we had to fight some more. We had a great time this last Thanksgiving and looked forward to some more visits in the future.  Rest in Peace Brother, Love, Your Sis....Sgt. Irene A De Yonge.
