James was born on October 23, 1938 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Jesse Lee and Velma Mae Carver.
He loved southern gospel music and was a member of the Soldiers for Christ Quartet.
The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Scot McCosh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Willa Mae Carver; two sons, James Douglas Carver, Jr. of Parkton, NC, and Jesse Carver of Bladenboro, NC; two daughters, Janet Attebery of Lexington, NC, and Marsha Beale of Fayetteville; two stepsons, Steve Crider of Waco, TX, and Jamie Fawks of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Jesse Carver of Rocky Mount, NC, and Eugene Carver of Fayetteville; three sisters, Esterlene Adcox of Goose Creek, SC, Betty Page of Fayetteville, and Roberta Mitton of Fayetteville; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
