Heide “Oma” Herrad Nash, 82, of Fayetteville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. Heide was born on August 11, 1942, to Lina and Eugene Mayer in Philippsburg, Germany. On Dec. 2, 1960, Heide married her “Teddy,” Charles T. Nash Jr., and they spent the next 64 years enjoying their life together.
Heide was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. She was a former member of the Fairy Godmothers and volunteered at the Alms House. She was never seen without her yarn bag and project she was working on. She loved doing laundry, enjoying coffee, crocheting, knitting and sunflowers. She was the embodiment of boundless kindness.
Heide is survived by her husband, Charles T. Nash, Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C., son, David Nash (Kim) of Hope Mills, N.C.; daughter, Kirsten Speer (Thomas) of Fayetteville, N.C.; her grandchildren, Samantha Alb (Will) of Chesapeake, Va., Theresa Hubbard of Slidell, La., Katlin Speer (Valerie) of Raeford, N.C., Marliese Moody (Bredell) of Garner, N.C. and Matthew Nash of Hope Mills, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Hubbard, Olivia Hubbard, Brantley Alb, Samantha Speer, Kirsten Moody and Isla Speer; a brother, Volker Mayer (Renate) of Germany; preceded in death by her sister, Kirsten Winter and survived by her husband, Dietmar of Germany; preceded in death by her son, Richard Nash and is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Bush, La.; preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Hensley Speer, of Raeford, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on May 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. by Reeves Funeral Home. A time of fellowship and remembrance will take place after the service from noon to 2 p.m. at the home of Thomas and Kirsten Speer.
