YOSHIKO SATO, 97, of Honolulu, passed away at her residence on December 1, 2012. Born January 5, 1915 in Pahoa, Hawaii to parents Kameji and Kisayo Monma. Yoshiko was a retired housekeeper at the Island Waikiki Surf Hotel and a self-employed seamstress.
She is survived by sons, Tex (Linda) Sato and Albert Sato; daughter, Mildred M. Higashi; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Hiroshi (Esther) Monma; sisters, Sumi Kojima, Misuyo Wagatsuma, Misayo Watanuki, Geraldine Duarte; sister-in-law, Elsie Monma.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Borthwick Mortuary-Mauka Chapel. Buddhist services officiated by the Rev. Taiken Akiyama of the Haleiwa Shingon Mission will begin at 1:00 p.m. Private inurnment of ashes will be held at a later date. Family requests no flowers, and casual attire is suggested.
