Wan Yu Cheung, age 89, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, April 09, 2024, at home in Kaimuki, Hawaii with her husband by her side and close family & relatives visiting in her last days.
She was born on April 04, 1935, youngest of five siblings in Canton Zhongsan, China, She moved to Hawaii in 1967 after getting married to her husband, Tsun Wo Cheung, the year prior. In 1971, they bought a house in Kaimuki and for the most part was an at home mom and loving house wife until she later worked as a seamstress for 10 years.
A devoted wife, she loved to keep in touch with family, relatives, and friends and loved the simple life which made moving to Hawaii with her husband a perfect match. She and her husband both found their Christian faith in her last year of life where she found comfort and fellowship at Honolulu Chinese Alliance Church.
She is survived by her husband, Tsun Wo Cheung, son, William (Leticia) Cheung, two cherished grandchildren, Augustin and Kassidy Cheung, and her sister Wan Hing Yee.
A funeral service to honor Wan's memory will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Borthwick Mortuary, Makai Chapel, located at 1330 Maunakea St. with visitation hours at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Following, the service, Wan will be laid to rest at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Wan's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a guiding light that will continue to illuminate our lives for generations to come.
