My late  husband, Darrell,  and I first met Rick on the fourth hole of the Prince golf course at Princeville, HI. We were not sure what he was doing, rustling through the guava trees.  As we quickly found out, he was picking guavas off of the trees for a quick snack! He came over to show his harvest, offered us some, and then joined us to finish the round of golf. A wonderful friendship began! Many intensely competitive golf and  gin rummy games followed over the years. Rick made our annual visits to Kauai memorable and I hold these special memories close to my heart. 

I will always keep Rick  in my prayers and I wish your family the best for the future.

After they discovered a mutual love of gin rummy, a regular game became a part of their visit.  It was a real joy for me to listen to the male bantering and challenging over the card table! They were two strong men battling for the upper hand and they loved every minute of it! We both admired Rick's strength and consideration. He was remarkable man and will be sorely missed .   You raised a true, strong man who was also genuinely nice. Be proud of the result.
