Marcelino Agojo Martinez, 86, of Hanamaulu, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Hospital on December 7, 2019 surrounded by his immediate family. Born on April 21, 1933 in Candelaria Quezon, Philippines. He was the son of Sergio & Elena Agojo Martinez. Marcelino was a graduate of Kaua’i Community College, and a retired seed cutter for both McBryde Sugar Company and Kaua’i Coffee.

brothers Cirilo Martinez, Jacinto Martinez,
Luciano Martinez, and son-in-law SFC Allan Brown.
Marcelino is survived by his loving wife Francisca Martinez; daughters Marissa Brown (late SFC Allan Brown) of California & Christine Martinez (Michael Gadol) of Mililani; granddaughter Abigail Gadol of Mililani; sisters Remedies Agojo Martinez of Madrid, Spain, Consortia Martinez Generoso of the Philippines, Linda Valdecnas (Virgilio) of Georgia, and his eldest niece Neolita Bejo of Milipitas, California , numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8-9:30am and Mass celebrated at 10am. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Borthwick Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marcelino had an amazing life.
Growing up he loved to read and education was always a top priority. He relocated to Manila to attend high school at Southeastern College and then continued his education at San Francisco College. As a young adult, he worked Saint Anthony Hospital as an X-ray technician and assisted with accounting.
In 1965 he relocated to Hawaii to join his niece and to continue his education. He attended Kauai Community College and graduated as a nursing assistant.
He then changed careers and was employed at Grove Farm Co. and McBryde Company. He married the love of his life Francisca in 1972. In January 18, 1974 they welcome their first born Marissa Elena and not to far too long . On September 23, 1975 they welcome another baby girl Christine Grace.
He is a faithful man and a parishioner at Immaculate Conception church for 53 years. He was also active PTA dad while his daughters attended Immaculate Conception School. He retired in 1997 after his daughters graduated from college. During his retirement he enjoyed shopping at Macy’s to look for newer aloha shirts, visiting his daughters on Oahu, traveling to Spain, California, Philippines to see family and in 2009 he was overjoyed by the birth of his first grandchild Abigail Gracie Gadol. She forever changed his world. He frequently visited Oahu to attend many milestones in her life. He also looked forward in her school vacations while she visiting with him. They enjoyed their ice cream dates at Lappert’s. Marcelino lived an amazing life filled with many amazing memories with friends and family.
