Hi dad, it's Mei again.  Just want to say that I still miss you very much!!! I still think about you every day. I guess it will take me a while to get used to life without you. 

Today is a rainy day and tonight is windy and cold.  When I heard the winds blowing outside of the windows, the winds made me think about you again.  If you were still here, We children would worry you that you might catch cold or not wearing enough clothes.... 

Well, I don't need to worry about you anymore because you are in heaven and God takes perfect care of you.

 
There is no sickness in Heaven. Heaven will only give you warmth and not cold. It is where God and the angels stay and it is perfect for everything. I am so very sure heaven is a beautiful and awesome place and no word can describe how wonderful it is.

Well, dad. You just enjoy spending the time with mom and your friends. Before you know it, we will join the party together and be at peace and happy forever.  Praise God.

Almost one month, we know you are in very beautiful , peaceful and safely home ( heaven) :) :) with mom and your friends together, but we still miss you very much !!!!

All the memories we shared all the laughter,you gave us all those cherished moments we had together,is what we wished still existed.

Hey Dad, how is it?  I bet you are having an awesome time in heaven... You must be partying with your friends, mom and most of all, you are with the Lord now. The warmth of God is surrounding you and the angels are singing beautiful hymns everywhere.

How wonderful it is, there is no pain, and no suffering... I believe your mind is sharper than ever before and you can walk and eat without difficulty. May be, you can fly like the angels, ha ha... I can only imagine..... Well one day, I will find out when I get there...  

What I can say now is I miss you a lot!!! I miss you at home. I miss going to your apartment on Mondays. I miss seeing your face and your smiles. I miss hearing you say,"Wong Lum", "Ho", "Hai" and "Amen"

I also miss seeing you at my work place. When I pass by your room, the fish pond and the therapy rooms, your face will pop up automatically. All the memories are still so vivid in my mind. Well, I am at peace now because I know where you are and I know I will join the party in heaven with my love ones some day. 

Dad, I praise God that I was here on your last days. I was glad that I had enough time to say my Thank Yous to you.  I was glad that I could hold your hand at bedside. Holding your hand brought me back to my childhood. I remember I held your giant hand while we were walking down to the market.  I liked to play with your veins in the back of your hand while we were walking because I knew my dad was my protector and nothing bad would happen to me. 

I found comfort from what pastor Lai said in your funeral. He said that the Holy Spirit told him that when your spirit left your body, thousands and thousands of angels welcomed you to heaven.

Dad, it was so hard to let you go. I know God wanted to take you home because He didn't want you to suffer anymore.  Thank you Dad for being my dad... Your love will always live in my heart.

Hello everybody. I am Lam Wong's son-in-law of his youngest daughter. It is an honor to have the chance for me to share my feeling toward Dad to you today.

Dad basically was a quiet person. The first time I met Dad was approximately 23 years ago.  Back then, I was dating my wife and my wife was living with Dad.  Dad did not smile or express himself much. He gave me an impression that he could beat me up if I misbehaved. I could not determine his feeling or what he was thinking about.  He posed a sense of authority toward me when I was with him.  After years of knowing him, I accept that my impression toward Dad was all incorrect.

Dad was a loving person. He loved everybody in his family: mom, sons, daughters, grandchildren, and even our pets. He may not express his love to his family verbally; but he would express his love through his actions. I am grateful to him for accepting me to be his son-in-law despite my complicated family background. He loved my wife, and indirectly his love toward my wife overflowed to me.  One time, when he learned that I was sick, he prepared Chinese herbal soup for me when we go to his home for dinner. And he did that multiple times. Every time we went to his home for dinner, he would steam the best fish of the day for us.

Dad was a very smart person. I learned that Dad did not have formal education. He did not have a chance to go to school when he was young.  Although without formal education, he taught himself how to write. He was a man full of knowledge.

For example, he knew how to make zongzi from scratch. He would make so many zongzi for everybody in the family at every dragon boat festival. The other example: he taught my wife how to select the best fruits and vegetables at the supermarket. However, most of the time, we just gave him an empty plastic bag and he would fill it up. One more: he taught us using vinegar to heal itchy skins. If you pay close attention in his home, you can find a lot of homemade gadgets that he made that enhanced his everyday life.

We had some traditions of our own. Every weekend, we would always have dim sum together. Dad and I both loved the same dim sum, which is the baked custard bun. The dim sum comes in three, he would only have one and I would have the rest. After lunch we would go shopping. The usual places are Macy's, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Costco. Costco would always be the last stop. This has become our routine that my wife and I still go to Costco every week. Dad was always on time. He would always be the one waiting for us instead of us waiting for him. The other annual tradition that we had was walking to Aloha Tower on New Year's Eve to watch the firework. One time, Dad even showed us the shortcut of walking home. I am thankful for all those times that we had together with Dad.

God performed a miracle on Dad.  Because of Dad's personality, we seldom talked about Jesus Christ or spread the Gospel to him.  We were not sure how to bring up the topic about Jesus without angering him. My wife always concerned about Dad's spiritual life. The only thing we could do was pray to God every night for Dad's salvation. We had little faith but all we could do was pray and wait.

Miraculously, one day, Dad announced to everybody that he wanted to be baptized. We did not know what or how it happened. But Praise the Lord that He answered our prayers.  On November 25, 2006, Dad was baptized.

Dad was a faithful man. He loved the Lord very much. When we had dinner together, he would pray to God before meal. He served the Lord at Canaan everyday. He passed out tracks at Chinatown every Saturday. He was a perfectionist. Whatever he did, he would perform the best that he could. Within the last couple years Dad smiled more. I believe that is because God is with him.

We are so blessed that we were able to see him off to Heaven. We all do not wish Dad to leave us so soon. But we know that he is at the very best place right now.

Dad's passing reminded me of the time when Mom first left us. Once again I am being reminded that our lives on this earth are very fragile and limited.  Don't look at earthly things too heavily for they are all temporal. Invest into relationship among family and friends. Most importantly, invest into Jesus Christ, the Lord.

In closing I would like to give this Bible verse to family and friends.
 
John Chapter 14 Verse 6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
