Kathleen Kam Moon Leong

Kathy (or Kathleen) was born on April 25, 1947 to her parents Sadie and Henry Leong who also had two daughters, Arlene and Linda. She went to St. Patrick’s School and later graduated from Kaimuki High School.

Kathy started work in sales at the Liberty House Department Stores. She loved retail and eventually became an Assistant Buyer working at the Ala Moana Store Branch and at the Campbell Industrial Park Warehouse. When the Liberty House Stores decided to open a liquidation outlet near the Downtown Store Branch and call it the Penthouse, she was recruited to become the Shop Manager. When the Liberty House decided to close the Penthouse, Kathy helped close the store. After the Penthouse she went on to the Downtown Store Branch to manage various departments. Eventually the Liberty House Department Stores became Macy’s and she continued to be one of the Managers in the Downtown Macy’s Department Store. She eventually retired after working 30 plus years for Liberty House and Macy’s.

Kathleen is survived by her long-life partner Carlton Say, and sister Linda Leong (James) Kobatake; nieces, nephew and grandnieces.

Funeral will be held on August 25, 2023, at Borthwick Mortuary Maunakea Chapel;

Visitation is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.;

Service at 9:30 a.m.;

Burial Service to follow at Diamond Head Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m.
