Work history
Jerry Lawson is a hard worker with strong work ethic. Most of his life he worked two jobs to provide for his family. He loved being in the military.
He was a little boy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when he watched the C119s fly over their church while attending Vacation Bible School. He fell in love with the airplane with the twin tails. He once said, luck was with him when he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. At only 17 years old, he knew what he wanted to do; they assigned him to work on the C119. He soon became a Fly Engineer. He was later assigned to support the C130 fleet in a logistics role. He loved his work and the travels. He flew all over the world.
During his military time with the U.S. Air Force, he was stationed in Evreux Air Base in France for 4 years, Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii for 4 years, Korat Royal Thai Air Base for 1year, Tan Son That Air Base in Vietnam for 6 months, Dyess Air Force Base in Texas for 2 years, Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for 1 years, and Myrtle Beach Air Force Base for 2 years.
He retired as a Master Sergeant Air Force in 1974. After retiring from USAF, he worked for Breakers Hotel in Myrtle Beach South Carolina for 17 years. When it was his time to retire from work, he was able to enjoy the rest of his life in Hawaii. He loved being in Hawaii.
He was a member of 317 Airlift Wing group. 317 Airlift Wing group is comprised of the 39th and 40th Airlift Squadron, 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 317th Maintenance Squadron, 317th Operations Support Squadron.
