Janet Mew Oi Chun Fong passed away on July 18, 2013 in Honolulu at the age of 86. She was born on April 03, 1927. She graduated from Baldwin High School on Maui and became the First Narcissus Queen in 1950. She married Dr. Bernard H.Y. Fong, DMD, who preceded her in death.
She was a devoted wife and mother to her seven daughters and one son. She worked as a receptionist/dental assistant along side her husband, Bernard. They both retired in 1993 and became world travelers until she became very ill. After a long battle with a chronic neurological disease, Janet passed away peacefully with her children, grandchildren, family and friends at her side.
She is survived by her son, Dr. David (Christine) Fong; daughters, Charlene Fong-Choy, Dr. Darlene (John) Metter, Lisa Fong, Tina Fong, Dr. Lucy (D'Wayne) Wong, Carole Fong (Bradley) Kutchins and Dr. Janice Fong (Jeff Ung);
grandchildren, Peter (Yuna) Choy, Jodie (Bryen) Waltjen, Aren and Devin Choy: Dr. David Metter, Christopher and Erik Metter, Jonathan, Jennifer and Christopher Wong: Ashlei, Kourtnei and Michael Fong-Kutchins: Trinity and Nikki Ung: Chandler and Gabriella Fong
great-granchildren: Micah and Michelle Choy
brothers, Harold (Janet), Roy (Doris), Elroy (Lilly), Reginald and Warren (Elizabeth)
