George Edward Leavitt, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 16, 2019, in his own home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born October 10, 1918 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Mary Viola Sibley & George Clark Leavitt.
Beloved Father of Karlene Ellis, Carolyn (Dan Mickel) Cloutier, Jorgene (William) Jensen, George Clark (Heidi Bornhorst) Leavitt; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Elaine, the mother of his children and his second wife Clare. He was a tender caregiver for both of his wives, as their health declined.
George served his country as a Pilot during WWII in the Army Air Corps completing his military service as a Captain with 10 years in Air Force Reserve.
He loved flying and continued flying small planes for work and enjoyment.
He and his family made Hawaii home in 1961, where he furthered his career in the concrete and rock industry.
He concluded his career serving his Church, finding sites for LDS chapels in Hawaii and throughout the Pacific Region.
He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a missionary in England and loved serving the people of Hawaii as a Bishop, Stake President and Patriarch.
His funeral will be on Monday June 24, 2019 at Halawa Chapel, 99-641 Pohue St. Visitation and viewing at 10, service at 11, with light lunch to follow.
