Clem is survived by his wife of 41 years Maryrose C. Roldan, his daughters Tammy Lynn L. Dureg, Contessa “Tess” N. Roldan, and Kristie Lynn Roldan, his five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Mary “Dolly” Roldan & Florence Tuliau, brothers Virigilio Roldan & Fernando Alejandro, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Clem was born November 19, 1941 in Paddig Ilocos Norte, Phillipines to Cirilo Roldan and Marcelina Raquiza, and immigrated to Hawaii in 1946. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1959. He first joined military service in 1960 and served in the Army until 1966. He then served in the National Guard’s 516th signal Brigade from 1973-1975, the Army Reserves from 1979-1980, and the USAF Reserves 349th MAW from 1980-1992. He retired in 2000 after 40 years of civilian service to the military as a GS-12 Logistics Management Specialist.
Clem was an avid bowler and golfer, but he was most passionate about raising orchids. After retirement he lovingly nurtured his orchid plants, and was an active and dedicated member of the Aiea Orchid Club, Hawaii Kai Orchid Club, Ewa Orchid Club, Honolulu Orchid Society, Kunia Orchid Club, Windward Orchid Society and the Species Club. He often volunteered at Orchids of Waianae, Kodama Orchid Nursery, and H&R Nurseries Orchids. His own plants won many awards and he even sold some of his beautiful orchids through his “retirement business” Pau Hana Orchids. Clem was always there to help people with caring for orchids or whatever else they needed.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel, located at 1330 Maunakea St, Honolulu Hawaii 96817. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 am and services to follow from 11:00 until 12:00 pm. Clem will be inurned at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
