DR. CHRISTOPHER WAYNE JOHNSON, age 45, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away June 4, 2011 in Tampa, Florida. Born March 7, 1966 at Castle Medical Center in Kailua, Hawaii, he was a graduate of Kamehameha School, Class of 1984, where he lettered in varsity football, basketball and tennis, was a song contest leader, and a member of the Glee Club traveling with them to parts of the United States, Samoa, Tahiti and England. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1994 from the University of Hawaii, was awarded a Certificate of Achievement, Division of Basic Sciences, New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1995 and the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1999. While going to school he taught Japanese at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served a 2 year mission in Japan. He settled in Florida where he was the primary practitioner of podiatry at “Dr. Chris Johnson Podiatry Home Care”. He enjoyed athletics, particularly basketball, baseball, football; he loved to exercise, fish, hunt, hike, swim and he enjoyed listening to Hawaiian music.
He is survived by his parents, Rodney and Kay Johnson; brother, Brad (Dayna) Johnson; sisters, Lei (Matt) Wong, Kuuipo (Harry) Santana, Roxanne (Chris) Cardejon; nieces and nephews, Kaniau, Courtney, Ihaka, Taja, Mika, Tiana, Kiakaha, TeRina, Jayda, Jalyn, Ariki, Tiare; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Kailua 3rd Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1461 Kanapu’u Drive, Enchanted Lake, Kailua); service 11:30 a.m.; grave dedication and burial 3 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Casual attire requested.
