ADAM PYUNG YEAL LIM, 87, of Honolulu, passed away July 28, 2012. Born in Hamakua, Honokaa, Hawaii, he was the Dean of Student Services, serving also as a Placement Officer, at Leeward Community College, retiring on February 8, 1988 after 23 years of service. He also served as a consultant and conducted numerous workshops on career planning and job searching and authored a book, “Job Searching in Hawaii” (1977, Press Pacifica).
On December 29, 1981, he was ordained a minister with the Church of Gospel Ministry, Chula Vista, California.
Throughout his life, he served in many capacities and worked at numerous jobs as a ditch digger, service station attendant, lumber yard worker, truck helper, mason’s helper, farmer, hi-lift operator, stock clerk, pineapple field worker, light truck driver, dishwasher, and seaman—working as a deckhand, porter and mess man on passenger, liberty, victory and reefer ships. He was also a carpenter helper, construction helper, mechanic helper and apprentice, spot welding operating machine worker, welder’s helper, soda factory worker, library aide, sales clerk, used car salesman, shipping clerk, campaign office manager for political party, campaign manager for candidates running for national office, administrative intern for State of Hawaii and City & County of Honolulu, insurance salesman, management analyst trainee, employment service interviewer, employment service representative, placement director, coordinator of a career development center, Division chairman of student services division, and acting associate Dean of Student Services.
He is survived by son, Michael Lim; daughters, Kathleen Chee, Karen Miyamoto, Kari Lim; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Danny and Ensign Lim; sister, Shirley Linder.
