Thomas A. Novak, 76, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at his home. A native of Chicago, IL, Tom was born Sept. 29, 1947 to Thomas and Dorothy (Smith) Novak, one of two children. Mr. Novak served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force and then began a long 32 year career with Sears and Roebuck, retiring as a store manager in Madison, WI. Tom moved to Homosassa 20 years ago from DeForest, WI, where he was an avid softball player, playing on three different teams. Among the activities of a perfect day for Tom would be enjoying a big breakfast with his family, then golfing in the afternoon. Mr. Novak was of the Roman Catholic faith and in addition to his grandparents, Walter and Helen Smith; his parents Thomas and Dorothy Novak; he was preceded in death by a son, James Novak; an uncle, Patrick Smith, and a brother-in-law, Edward Pokorny. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joan Novak of Homosassa, FL; children Christopher Novak (Kristin Brinner), Solana Beach, CA and Melissa Jens (Joseph), Fredonia, WI; grandchildren McKenna Jens, LaCrosse, WI (graduating soon from University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse), William Jens, DePere, WI (graduating soon from St. Norbert College), Wyatt Jens, Milwaukee, WI (attending Milwaukee School of Engineering), Kaitlyn Novak, Solana Beach, CA and Sara Novak (Casey), St Charles, MO as well as his sister Sharon Pokorny of Homosassa, FL.
