Thomas Francis Caveny, 88, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., Dec. 20, 2022 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL. A native of Syracuse, NY, he was born Jan. 3, 1934 to Thomas and Helen (Enright) Caveny, one of five children. Tom, as he was known to many, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Niagara University in New York and enjoyed a long 28 year career with Marsh McLennan Insurance Agency of Rochester, NY. Mr. Caveny was an avid golfer who held memberships in both the Monroe Country Club, Pittsford, NY and Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club, Homosassa. He moved to Homosassa permanently nine years ago from Fairport, NY, but had been a snowbird for a number of years prior. Tom’s perfect day would revolve around family phone calls each Sunday, parties where he was with his family, and oftentimes martinis at 5:00 P.M. He was an avid sports fan, especially those that involved any type of ball. Proud of his Irish heritage, Tom was a faithful and devoted fan of The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Caveny, on May 27, 2005; brother Jack Caveny; sister Patricia Rickert and her husband Len, and brother-in-law George Rickert. Mr. Caveny is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Patricia A. “Pat” Casey, Homosassa; children Thomas W. Caveny (wife Susan), Rochester, NY; James M. Caveny (wife Susan), Walworth, NY; Kelly A. Clark (husband Dan), Bushnell, FL; Kathleen M. Zink (husband John), Canandaigua, NY; Thomas Casey (wife Linda), Jasper, GA; John Casey (wife Laura), Fairport, NY; Carolyn Charleton, Webster, NY and David Casey (wife Christine), Baton Rouge, LA; siblings Jane Rickert, Syracuse, NY and David Caveny (wife Karen), Skaneateles, NY; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
