Richard L. Martin, 95, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., Dec. 13, 2022 at his home. A native of New York, NY, he was born Nov. 15, 1927, the only child to Louis and Ethel (Kamacker) Neumeyer. Richard served his country honorably and proudly in the U.S. Army from February 1946 to July 1947 as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, receiving the WWII Victory Medal and the Army Occupation of Japan Medal. Mr. Martin enjoyed a long career with Chemical Bank, which eventually became Chase Bank, retiring as a vice president. Richard moved to Homosassa 30 years ago from Babylon, L.I., NY and as a lifelong Catholic, was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa. Mr. Martin was also a member of American Legion Post #155 in Crystal River and a member of the Lions Club. Richard’s perfect day would be spent tending to his gardens at home, as he was a Master Gardener. He enjoyed golf, fishing and sailing, and was also a Cessna pilot earlier in his life. Richard remained active in many clubs during his retirement in Florida. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Greta Jean Martin, on October 16, 2019; a daughter Vicki Henry, and a son-in-law, Larry Ferrara. He is survived by four children: Christine Simmons (husband Donald), Homosassa, FL; Rene Rogers (husband Jim); Linda Martin, Frisco, TX and Richard Neumeyer (wife Leila), California, as well as ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A Celebration Of Life and Catholic Prayer Service with Military Honors will be held on Sat., Feb. 18, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida.
