In the early morning of Saturday, March 12, 2016, after a long battle with Huntington's Disease, Phyllis made her journey back home very peacefully at the residence of Sunshine and Bruce Arnold with her children by her side. Phyllis was 74 years old. Phyllis was born on November 24, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of Phyllis Claire Wade and Richard Harry Wade. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Vali Valus, Jr. and her mother and father, Phyllis and Richard Wade. Phyllis moved to Florida with her family at the age of 13 and was a member of the first graduating class at Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. She continued her education at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in May of 1963. She was then married on July 3, 1963 and taught elementary school at Clearview Avenue Elementary in St. Petersburg, Florida and then continued on to be a wonderful, loving mother and wife. Phyllis also volunteered at St. John Vianney School on St. Petersburg Beach for many years as a Kindergarten Aide and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Phyllis moved to Inverness, Florida in 2007 to be cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Sunshine and Bruce Arnold, where she lived her remaining ten years of life. Phyllis is survived by her brother Richard Wesley Wade; children Henry Vali Valus III, Wesley Wade Valus, Valerie Claire Valus, Phyllina Sunshine Arnold; grandchildren Cara Slowey-Thomas, Brenna Slowey-Thomas; Alexis Valus, Vanessa Claire Valus, Zachary Valus, Bella Faith Arnold, Cade Wells Arnold and Kai Henry Arnold. Friends will be received on Fri., March 18, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Beach Memorial Chapel, St. Pete Beach, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, St. Pete Beach on Sat., March 19, 2016 at 11:30.
