Marion E. "Gene" McRae

Marion Eugene “Gene” McRae, age 85, of Hernando, Florida, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Inverness, Florida. Gene was born November 20, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan to William E. McRae and Alma J. Baker. Gene was enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps where he was stationed in Japan with the Occupational Forces, as a Military Police Officer, with an honorable discharge in 1950. Gene then worked at Post Cereals of Battle Creek for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He married Beverly Ann Case on October 8, 1950 in Battle Creek. Gene is survived by his Daughters: Nancy Reincke of Marshall, Cynthia (Timothy Harper) James, of Gobles, Kathy (Richard) Hughes, of Battle Creek, Joni (Willie) Whetstone, of Battle Creek, two half-sisters: Phyllis Moyer and Patsy Simington, grandchildren: Roy Rolfe, Kelly Smith, Michael Ayres, Tony Ayres, Eric Culp, Nicholas Culp, Lisa Allen, Willie Whetstone Jr., and Sarah Whetstone, 15 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly, sister, Jean Reitz. Memorial service will be held at Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa, FL. No services will be held in Battle Creek, MI. Memorials may be given to Bronson At Home Hospice (Battle Creek) or the American Heart Association.
