Marie E. Nissen, 95, of Hernando, Florida, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Health Center at Brentwood, Lecanto, FL. A native of Evart, Michigan, she was born June 10, 1923 to Edgar and Mary (Spence) Smith, one of three children. Marie retired after a long 30 year career as a piston ring builder for Sparta Foundry in Sparta, Michigan as a member of U.A.W. Local #8. She moved to Hernando in 1994 from Newaygo, Michigan; was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Hernando, and she loved to dance. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband Donald Darrell Nissen, on January 8, 2003; her son Norman Douglas Nequist, on June 28, 2009, and her two siblings, Ann Cain and John Smith. She is survived by her grandson Douglas Edward Nequist, granddaughter Debbie Schiener (husband Dan), and great grandchildren Isaac Douglas King and Kelli Lynn Schiener. Family and friends will be received on Tues., May 28, 2019 at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida from 10:30 A.M. to 11:15 A.M.
