Leland Guy McCown passed away October 19, 2024, a month shy of 93. Born November 18, 1931, in Elwood City, PA, raised and went to school in Darlington, PA. Educated as a diesel mechanic in the Army, he was stationed at Ft. Lee in Richmond, VA and was deployed to France during the Korean War.
He later lived in Big Beaver Township, PA where he owned a deep well drilling business and did contract drilling for the coal mines. He moved to Clearwater, FL in 1968 where he owned a paving company. After moving to Levy County in 1985, he worked with his son Dan at their general contracting company, Fly-N-Inn. He is preceded in death by his father Walter Guy, his mother Anna Mildred Frances, 2 older brothers Harold and Charles Kenneth, his first wife Audrey Eileen, and his second wife Marie. He is survived by his third wife, Linda, his brother Gerald (Erma Jean) of Warren, PA, his son Curtis of Brooksville, daughters Melody (Jeffery) Skaggs of Palm Harbor, Heather (Mike) Pagano of Clearwater, and bonus children with Marie – Linda (Bob) Naja of Inglis, Nancy (Rob) Munce of Ellenton, Dan (Sheri) Ogen of Dunnellon, grandchildren Arden and Aurora Skaggs, Hadleigh and Liam Tate Pagano, RW and Christian Naja, John and Kasey Doolittle, Teagan Munce, Megan Heltzel, Lauren, Jeffrey, Kitty, and DJ Ogen, and Linda’s adult children – Wanda Cato of Goldsboro, N.C, Jarvis “Terry” Monroe of Ocklawaha, Thomas (Karen) Monroe of Estero, Steven (Karen) Monroe of Ocala, and Erika Mullins of Yakima, WA. 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Leland was sharp as a tack up to the very end, and everyone knew Leland to be a master storyteller and someone who spoke his mind in what he believed in. We are forever grateful for his wife Linda, son Dan, Linda and Bob Naja, Terry, Steve and Karen Monroe and the grandchildren that lived nearby – to always be there for him. He will be greatly missed. Graveside service will be held at Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery at 10am on December 1, 2024, following with a Celebration of Life to be held in the Inglis Town Hall.
