Lawrence Clay “Jay” Petty, Jr., of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at his home. A native of Stuttgart, Germany, he was born Sept. 6, 1959, the only child to Lawrence Clay Petty, Sr. and Laura (Riedenhauer) Petty. Jay, as he was known to his family, served his country honorably and proudly in the U.S. Navy for over 10 years, first as a sonar technician and completing his service as a machinery repairman, attaining the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Mr. Petty moved to Homosassa in 2015 and was a long distance truck driver most of his working life. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Petty loved fishing, snorkeling, cave exploring and watching stars, as well as his beloved Corvette. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Selena Petty; his children Sarah, Samantha and Kyle, and his grandson Charlie.
