Kristi K. "Krissy" Dawson, 54, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2017 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida. A native of Bellaire, Ohio, she was born October 11, 1963 to the late Walter and the late Mary (Cunningham) Smathers, one of four children. Krissy, as she was known to many, was a licensed practical nurse and graduated from nursing school as a Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member, the world's largest and most prestigious honor society. She was a devoted member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Crystal River, Florida. Krissy loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandbabies and gardening and teaching her grandbabies how to plant flowers. She also loved banana popsicles, music and dancing, cooking and riding her motorcycle prior to her back injury. Krissy would do whatever she could to help anyone in need and even at the hardest times in her life she would give the shirt off her back to help someone else. She is survived by her two children: Michelle Steffens and her husband Nick of Lecanto, Florida and Jordan Mersky of Washington, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Waylon and Garrett Steffens of Lecanto, Florida; brother Skip Smathers and his wife Emily of Clyde, Ohio; sister Cindy Galloway and her husband Keith of Jefferson, Maryland and sister Monica Mathews of Arden, North Carolina. A celebration of Krissy's life will be held at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida on Sunday., December 17, 2017 at 4:30 P.M. with Pastor Joanie Holden of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church officiating. www.wilderfuneral.com
