Joyce Ellen Nahuis Hesketh

She was born to parents Milton and Evelyn Nahuis on August 14, 1940 in Cleveland, OH. In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, Ronald, Joyce is survived by three children: Rocky Hesketh of Beverly Hills, FL; Scott (Bobbie) Hesketh of Mooresville, NC and daughter Audrey Hesketh (Ardell) Williamson of Pleasant View, TN; 6 grandchildren: Anthony Reynolds, Cameron Hesketh, Helena Hesketh Adams, Kevin Hesketh, Chad Hesketh and Adam Hesketh; 4 great grandchildren: Nikolai Hesketh, Emery Adams, Aria Hesketh and Daniel Reynolds; and 3 sisters: Carol Nahuis Hakey of Hinckley, OH; Karen Nahuis Schilens of Palm Harbor, FL and Susan Nahuis Jedlicka of Painesville, OH.

After doing an incredible job raising her family, Joyce and Ron moved from Nashville, TN to Homosassa, FL in April 2004 where they were members of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa. She was an active member of the congregation, serving as Church Financial Officer, head of the accounting teams, Stephen’s Minister, helping with the Memory Lane Respite group by assisting care givers and receivers, and donning her clown outfit to bring cheer to assisted living facilities. She was also an active member of the Creative Quilters group in Citrus County, serving as Vice President for 3 years, combining her passion of quilting with her unending service focused heart. Joyce was an extremely artistic person which was evident in all of the quilts, afghan blankets, and cross stitch pieces she made, probably close to 100 in all.

Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa on Mon., Oct. 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, where a Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Kip Younger and Pastor Ernie Post officiating. Private burial will be held at Nashville National Cemetery in Nashville, TN at a later date.
