Jerry Allen Sunman, 68, passed away on Sun., March 15, 2015, at his home in Homosassa, FL. Born to Harold and Dolly Sunman in 1946, Jerry spent his childhood in south Florida. The youngest of five siblings, he was brother to Harold Jr., Jack, Bill, and Dorothy. Jerry married the love of his life, Dianne, in 1970. They would have celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary on March 28th. Jerry and Dianne raised two sons, Michael and Jeffrey, and welcomed two daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Michele, into their family. He doted on his five grandchildren, Connor, Hayden, Jillian, Rory, and Annabeth. Jerry and Dianne travelled, lived around the world, and counted many friends as family. He was an air traffic controller, a pilot, and a fisherman. A quintessential outdoorsman, he fished, camped, skied, and golfed with good friends and with great enthusiasm. Jerry was an active member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge and the American Legion in Carthage, New York, whose halls are quieter without his big laugh. He retired to Florida five years ago and did his part to reduce the stone crab and deer population of the southeast. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Sat., April 11, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Old Homosassa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boston University Amyloidosis Center at http://www.bu.edu/amyloid/donate/. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. www.wilderfuneral.com
