Jeanette Hostetler Roberts, 87, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023. From helping to raise her 3 younger siblings to being a grandmother to 2 doting grandchildren, nurturing family to serve the Lord was her greatest joy.
Jeanette was born on December 22, 1935 to the late Elbert W. and Clara Reynolds Hostetler in Lakeland, Florida. She married the love of her life, Robert D.Waldo Roberts, on August 21, 1960, and, until her passing, they shared nearly 63 years of devoted happiness together. Jeanette was an exceptionally loving mother to their daughter, Brenda, and considered herself an honorary mother to countless others, especially to her nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond.
Throughout her life, Jeanette was a natural caregiver to family, friends, and patients alike. Jeanette received a degree in nursing from Southern Missionary College in 1958 in Tennessee and graduated from Columbia Union College in 1961 in Maryland. She served as an ER Nurse at the University of Virginia and for the US Department of Defense. As a devoted Army chaplain’s wife, Jeanette’s loving care was felt around the world through the family's many moves. Her generous servant’s heart and kind spirit will be greatly missed.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter, Brenda, grandchildren, Regan and Alexander, Conor, and great-grandchildren: Anne Marie and Ruth.
Special acknowledgment must be made to Jeanette’s husband, Robert, who served Jeanette as her loving caretaker and provider throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s. Bob and Jeanette’s unconditional fulfillment of vows to love “in sickness and in health” serve as a beautiful testament to the sacrament of marriage and as an aspirational example to the coming generations in their family. The family also wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the Sturgill Hospice House for their competent and compassionate care for Jeanette.
For Jeanette’s memorial service, the family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Homosassa Seventh Day Adventist Church on Cardinal Rd. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in honor of Jeanette’s service to its mission: https://friendshswp.org/.
