James Curtis Smith, 81, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sun., April 23, 2023 at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, FL. A native of Fort Worth, TX, he was born Feb. 26, 1942 to Carl and Justine (Stem) Smith, one of two children. Jim, as he was known to many, served his country in the United States Navy. In 1963, Jim relocated his family from Fort Worth to St. Petersburg, FL and was employed in the electronics industry with both ECI and Paradyne Corps. He then began a long career with Florida Power Corp and retired from the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant. Mr. Smith was a Citrus County resident for the past 50 years, eventually settling in Homosassa. Jim was very active for many years with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8189 and the American Legion Post #155 and was an avid HAM radio operator and signed off with W4ONO 7388. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his third wife, Gloria Gaspard Smith, and his sister Mary Carole Smith Marino of Fort Worth. Jim is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Martha Smith, St. Petersburg, FL; children Dan Smith (wife Denise), Crystal River; Mike Smith, St. Petersburg and Marcia Moran (husband COL. Brent Moran, USAF (RET), Sanford, FL; grandchildren Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Hahn (husband Mark), Winter Springs, FL; Zack Arnold (wife Krystal) and Emma Smith, both of St. Petersburg, FL; Evan Moran, Sanford, FL and Bryce Moran, Albuquerque, NM; great grandchildren Abigale Grace and Olivia Faith Hahn, both of Winter Springs, FL and Jett and Finn Arnold, both of St. Petersburg, FL.
