Helen M. Carlson, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sunday December 24, 2023 at Northbrook Center for Rehab and Healing in Brooksville, FL. Helen was born on July 20, 1932 in Platteville, WI to the late Edwin J. and Elsie (Soenkson) Nesemann. Helen moved to Florida in 1956. She was a retired elementary school teacher of 35 years and a devoted member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Crystal River, FL for 28 years, where she enjoyed being a member of W.E.L.C.A. and singing in the church choir. She was also a member of the Citrus County Community Choir for several years. Helen enjoyed volunteering at the Ellie Schiller State Wildlife Park for over ten years during the 1990’s, where she especially loved caring for the birds of prey and the cranes. Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 12 years, Bertil C. Carlson, and a daughter, Kim E. Culver, who passed away on April 9, 2020. She is survived by daughter Corinne Culver, grandson Thomas O. Culver and Robert C. Wewaine, who was a delight and loving companion and friend for eight years. Friends will be received on Mon., Jan. 8, 2024 from 9:30 A.M to 10:00 A.M. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, where a Celebration of Life will commence at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Joanie Holden officiating.
