Hazel Alderman-Price-Wilson, age 91, died peacefully on February 5th, 2017 at Crystal River Health & Rehab facility in Florida, after suffering a stroke with complications. Hazel was born on August 5th 1925, in East Sarasota County Florida, and was the daughter of Alva and Curtis Alderman.
Hazel graduated from Sarasota High School in 1944, majoring in business administration. Her first job was at the Venice Army Air Corps Base where she met her husband to be, George Romney Price. George was from Texas and after leaving the military Hazel and George moved to Texas where they raised two children.
After 18 years in Texas, the family returned to Florida. Not long after settling in Florida, George’s health began to fail and he eventually passed away in 1967.
Hazel married Norman Wilson in 1972. They lived in Florida and South Carolina. Norman Passed away in 2006.
Hazel is survived by her sister Callie Ballard, daughter Kay Hayes, Son David Price and their spouses, John Hayes and Debi Price. She has numerous nieces and nephews as well as step children and grandchildren. She loved her friends and family very much and rarely missed remembering every single birthday.
Hazel was an avid gardener. She was never happier than when she had a shovel or spade in her hand moving soil, weeding, planting and nurturing vegetables. In later years she enjoyed painting and crochet work.
Hazel received much joy and satisfaction from the various churches she attended and particularly loved teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Hazel was a special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
