Eleanor J. Hoeffler, 87, of Homosassa, Florida passed away on Sunday October 13th, 2013 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. A native of Queens, NY, she was born June 9th, 1926 to Anton and Minnie Fuchs. Anton and Florence Fuchs raised Eleanor and her sister Lori. Ellie and her beloved husband Charles left West Hempstead, NY 20 years ago to retire in Homosassa, FL. Ellie was a member, usher and volunteer at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa. Her many social activities included: tennis, bridge and bible study. She was a member and officer of many organizations including: Women of Sugarmill, Oak Village Women’s Club, Sugarmill Woods Tennis Association, Ladies of the Elks, United Methodist Women and the Oak Village Association just to name a few. Early in life Ellie enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper for multiple companies to ensure her three daughters the opportunity to attend college. She spearheaded the West Hempstead Scholarship Fund and was an active member of the PTA and various other endeavors. Despite all of her commitments, Ellie was always available to take a friend to a doctor’s appointment, visit friends in the hospital and bring meals and comfort to anyone in need. Eleanor Hoeffler is survived by: her husband of almost 65 years, Charles J. Hoeffler; her daughters Cheryl Hoeffler, Lynne Piontek, Susan Carollo and her sister Lori Reber. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Kristyn, Alison, Joey, Jenna and Sean, as well as two sons-in-love: Barry Carollo and Charlie Piontek. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., Oct. 19, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa with Pastor Kip Younger officiating.
