Charles L. Robinson, Sr., 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sat., Aug. 3, 2024 at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL. A native of Americus, GA, he was born Aug. 9, 1937 to James and Annie Ernestine (Tyner) Robinson, one of eleven children. Mr. Robinson skipped ahead two grades in school, which enabled him to graduate high school at the age of 16. Charlie, as he was known to many, served his country honorably and proudly for over three years in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962, serving as a mechanic repairman and attaining the rank of Specialist Fifth upon discharge. He attended Clark University in Atlanta before transferring to New Mexico State University, where he played and excelled at three sports. He then began a long career as a metallurgical engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company. He moved to Homosassa from the Northeast and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (and member of the Tampa Graduate Chapter) and enjoyed visiting his fraternity brothers. Charlie loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren, enjoyed the game of golf (both playing and watching), walking and exercising. He also enjoyed traveling to air shows where he could tell of the engines that he helped design; watching old westerns, enjoying soul food with hot sauce, and taking road trips and then reporting how long it took him to get from one place to another. Charlie’s idea of a perfect day would certainly be spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Robinson was of the Christian faith and in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by siblings Willie James “Sonny” Robinson and his wife Erma, and Paul, Leonard and Debra A. Robinson, as well as nephew James Christopher Robinson. Charlie is survived by his children Lt. Col.
