Bruce Wayne Cox

Bruce Wayne Cox, 69, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Tampa General Hospital Crystal River. A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Bruce was born March 19, 1955 to Hobert and Mavis (Bennett) Cox, one of five children, and lived his childhood years in various Oklahoma cities. Mr. Cox moved to Citrus County 25 years ago from Pinellas County, where he had lived most of his entire adult life. He was a 35 year employee of Florida Power Corporation and was of the Christian faith. Bruce enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, shooting, flying drones and cycling. He was a member of the Old Farts With Drones Club and the NRA. His perfect day would be any day out on the boat with his family, and he loved visiting his granddaughters in Ohio. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Cox and Mavis Elks. He is survived by his children Kelly Topp (husband Bryan), Wapakoneta, Ohio; Brian Cox, Holiday, Florida and Lara Shankar (husband Aditya), Orlando, Florida; grandchildren Jack Deakins Topp, Whitney Topp and Brooklynn Topp, all of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Jaiden Shankar, Orlando, Florida; siblings Jennifer Armistead (husband Ernie), Palm Harbor, Florida; Loretta Collins (husband Art), Largo, Florida; Carolyn Rosende, St. Petersburg, Florida and Keith Cox, also of St. Petersburg, Florida.
