William Dallas Hasty, Jr., passed away at home on October 16, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 14, 1945, in Eufaula, Alabama, to William Dallas Hasty, Sr., and Frances Bennett Hasty. He was raised in Georgetown, Georgia.
He graduated from the University of Georgia and Cumberland School of Law.
After starting his legal career at Liberty National, he found his true calling during his work with Pasquales Food Co. It was here that he embarked on his journey as a successful franchise attorney, ultimately forming his own practice.
He loved his adopted hometown of Vestavia Hills and was an avid supporter of its high school athletics program. He served as the president of the Board of Education, as well as president of the Chamber of Commerce.
He served as municipal judge for Leeds from 1984 to 2000. He also served as a member of the Alabama Securities Commission from 1993 to 2001 and as its chairman from 1998 to 2001. Additionally, he was a Major Judge Advocate General Corps, U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a huge Georgia Bulldogs football fan and was thrilled to watch them win the national championship earlier this year.
He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 50 years, Rebecca Register Hasty. He is also survived by his two daughters, Jill (Derek Roberts) and Lauren (Trevor Shaw). Also surviving him are his beloved granddaughters: Bennett, Mae, and Caroline Shaw.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, October 24, 2022, at 11:30 at Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church. A Reception will immediately follow.
