Sarah Anne Palmer Gentle passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016. Sarah was born on September 24, 1944 to Viola Cole Palmer and Harold Palmer in Jacksonville, FL. She grew up in Atlanta and attended Sylvan Hills School. Sarah went on to nursing school at Howard College (now Samford University), gaining her masters in both nursing and counseling. She worked for the Baptist Health Systems as an ER and ICU nurse. Sarah was Executive Director of Bradford Health for many years. For the last 25 years she has worked for a cause closest to her heart, The Alabama Drug and Alcohol Council.
Sarah is survived by her brother, William Palmer of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Jennifer Gentle Fernambucq, of Birmingham, AL and Julianna Gentle Massey of Atlanta, GA. Also left to treasure her memory are her six grandchildren: Robert Carter Alvis, Matthew Cole Alvis, John Grayson Alvis, Anna Campbell Massey, Sarah Caroline Fernambucq and Jacob Bennett Fernambucq. She was blessed with dedicated family: Jimmie McLeod, of Panama City, FL, Joseph McLeod of Tallahassee, FL, Philip McLeod of Panama City, FL and Timothy McLeod of Trinity, FL.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the memorial service following at 3:00 p.m.
