
Sally VanDyke Heath Ellis, age 79 of Birmingham went to glory on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. She was born October 17, 1934 to Mary Hamilton VanDyke Heath and Forrest Gage Heath at Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Raleigh, N.C.
Sally attended Ravenscroft Elementary and graduated from Braughton High school in Raleigh, N.C.. She received an Associate of Art Degree from Peace Junior College and a Bachelor of Arts Religious Education from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., where she was also a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and presented to society by the Terpsichorean Society of Raleigh in 1953. As a newlywed she made her home in Atlanta, Georgia for 30 years where she raised her four daughters. Sally moved to Clemson, S.C. in 1988 to be care giver for her much loved step-mother, Elise Heath Johnston. She later moved to Alabama so she could enjoy an active life with her daughters, “grands” and friends. Mrs. Ellis attended The Cathedral Church of the Advent and has a membership in the Daughters of the Revolution in the Baron Dekalb Chapter in Atlanta in the National Society of Colonial Dames with the Hickory Nut Gorge chapter in Rutherfordton, N.C..
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her beloved four daughters; Mrs. Cynthia Elise Jordan (Will) , Mrs. Laura Lynn Frederickson (Mark), Mrs. Sarah VanDyke Creech (Terry) and Mrs. Amy Elizabeth Crews (Matt); her precious grans: Daniel, Forrest, Elise, Albert, Patricia, Christina, Madison Elise, Hamilton and Sally; her sister Mary Caroline Heath Davis, three nieces; Mrs. Rebecca Marlok (Ted), Mrs. Sally Forrest Baker (Erwin), Mrs. Joselyn Pezek (Micheal); her chosen sister Mrs. Harriett Parr (Edward) and two adopted daughters Ms. Pam Maloof and Peggy Valentine and many very loved friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Clingman Commons at 2:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service following at 3:00 p.m. at The Cathedral Church of the Advent. Interment will be at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Pendleton, S. C. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m., where she celebrated many Easter and Thanksgiving services. In lieu of flowers the family ask for contributions to be made to the Cathedral of the Advent Music Discretionary Fund.
