Robert Aiken Conner

Robert was born on January 2, 1949, to Robert Covington Conner and Fronnie Ellis Conner of Enterprise, Alabama. There he attended public schools, First Baptist Church of Enterprise, and later, Auburn University.

Rob began his real estate career with Conner and Speigner Real Estate Construction and became the youngest real estate broker in the state of Alabama in 1970. He received his CCIM designation in 1983 and became active in commercial development. The company built West Gate Shopping Center in 1966, the first of its kind in the city, and in 1980, Rob became and remained the controlling partner. He also formed and operated Conner Company Real Estate in Birmingham, Alabama.

Rob was known for his dry wit, love of all things Auburn, and his sincere affection for his family and friends. Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and by his mother, Fronnie. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Denise, and daughter, Kristen. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to the Celebration of Life being held on Tuesday, the 13th of September 2022, at Vestavia Country Club located at 400 Beaumont Drive, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216. All family and friends are welcome to attend from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to share stories and memories.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request with gratitude that memorial contributions in Rob’s name be directed to First Baptist Church of Enterprise located at 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, Alabama 36330 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital located at 600 Beacon Parkway West, Birmingham, Alabama 35209. Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
