He was English spending his childhood, in Belgium, Germany and England. He graduated from Manchester University in England and went on to pursue an engineering career in both England and the US. His career brought him to Birmingham, Alabama where he worked for ProSoft Automation and IBA America. Later, he started his own business 360 Automation and was a Control Systems Engineer consulting with steel and aluminum plants.
Rob was married in 1999 to Terri Miller and had two boys Daniel (11) and Ethan (9). He had an endearing English sense of humor and followed the tradition of tea time. A longtime supporter of the Chelsea Football Club, Rob shared his passion for soccer by coaching and attending many sports events. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed by many in both the US and abroad.
He is survived by his wife Terri Miller, children Daniel and Ethan Coburn, parents Alan and Lynne Coburn, and sister Anne Doughty (Phillip). A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 9:30 am followed by the service at 10:30 am at Valley Chapel in Homewood on Oxmoor Road.
