Beloved mother, daughter, wife and friend went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Rhonda graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was a member of Alpha Gamma sorority. After graduation, Rhonda worked at Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Alabama for many years until the birth of her children. She traded that career for one of stay at home mother. In her new role she met and became lifelong friends with many of her closet friends today. Later she returned to work as a Real Estate agent and gathered numerous awards as top seller. Her true passion always remained centered on her children and home life. She spent countless hours preparing our kids for their upcoming life. Friends and acquaintances will remember her for never meeting a stranger and lighting up a room with her energy, humor and bright smile.
As the children grew into teenagers, Rhonda gladly welcomed sleepovers of three, five, 10 and more to our house. She stacked the refrigerator and cupboards with snacks and goodies and more importantly provided a safe place for the kids to assemble and share and fellowship.
Rhonda and Mark attended Double Oak Community Church in Mount Laurel. She was never shy sharing her faith with others and always looked for our less fortunate brothers and sisters to share our blessing with.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Evelyn Nix and her mother in law Margaret Self. Survivors include her husband Mark, mother and father, Nita and Russell Yarbrough, son George Reed Self and Daughter Rebecca Lauren Self.
In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rhonda’s name to Brother Bryan Ministries.
